Etudes

Etudes are typically written by composers so that students of an instrument can work on particular techniques. After having played guitar for twenty years, I came to the ukulele, an instrument at once familiar and strange. These etudes were a way for me to explore the ukulele, to discover the ukulele's own peculiarities and idiosyncrasies. I believe that many people in my position tend to play the ukulele like a small guitar with two missing strings. With these ten etudes, I hope to help others bridge the gap between playing a sort of generic stringed instrument, and playing the ukulele in its own right. It is a wonderfully interesting and unique instrument.
